Charleston was a great success!

I got into Greensboro Thursday morning, my mom picked me up from the airport and we stopped by the house to pick up my sister who takes longer to get ready than anyone I know! Than we hit my Yiayia and  Papou's house for a quick hello.  We hit the road around 11:30 and were making really good time.

We got into Charleston about 4:30 and went right to the church. We walked around and saw the hall and kitchen. It's a very nice and cozy area, we decided that it would be the location of the reception. The amount of money that we will save on not having it at another venue can go towards decorations to make it even more cozy and romantic for the big night.

Afterwards we went to our hotel, checked in and sat for a min. then headed to King St. We walked around for a bit went in a few shops then started to look for a good place for dinner. We ended up picking High Cotton on East Bay St. Of course they didn't have an open table but we just went to the lounge area where there was a jazz band playing. We ordered cocktails, I had the Huckfinn which was really good if you like lemonade, my mom got some orange martini, and Jamie got a glass of white wine. There were a lot of dishes that sounded amazing but we chose the Duck, Fresh Fish, and Shrimp and Grits. Everything was really good! I recommend all of them!

We walked back to the car and headed back to the hotel and were all asleep early! Long day of traveling!

Friday we ventured back downtown. We got a great breakfast at Toast on East Bay. And our waitress was extremely helpful. Aside from waiting there she also works with a few catering companies on the weekends, so she had nice list of caterers as well as bakers to check out. Afterward we went to the old Slave Market (I think that is politically incorrect, but that's what I will always call it) and walked through and Jamie and I got some prints of really cool pictures. Jamie got a necklace as well from the same shop were Perry bought me mine that I wear all the time. Afterwards we went back to the church to see inside the sanctuary, it did not disappoint at all. It is very beautifully done and a great size!
Next on the list was finding a hotel for everyone to stay at, we saw a few but really were impressed with the Courtyard Marriott in the Historic District which is right in the heart of downtown. The rooms are very big and the whole hotel was remodeled and there was even a wing added on. We blocked off 20 rooms (I will be getting the information on how to book the room in a few days and will post it here).
After all of that it was Cupcake time! We walked over to the little bakery "Cupcake" on King St. and enjoyed a red velvet cupcake. Yum!
Being in a cake mood we headed over to Ashley Bakery, we didn't have an appointment so we just looked through their scrap books of cakes they have done. We were very impressed and the shop smelt heavenly which is a good sign! We will have to go back for a tasting, which I'm looking forward too!!!

We stopped in and got a coffee at Starbucks on King St. to warm up a bit. By then it was almost 4 and we hadn't eaten lunch yet but it was too early for dinner! We walked back to our car and drove around for a bit before deciding to eat at Poe's on Sullivians Island. It's a very cozy place with really great food!
We went for an after dinner drive around the island and looked at the beautiful homes that we can only daydream about even going in! We headed back to the hotel over the beautiful new bridge into downtown.

It was a great trip and we accomplished a lot. Still have a lot to do, but going to see everything will defiantly make the other decisions a lot easier to make!

Stay tuned,

Erin

Plans in the making.

I am taking a trip to Charleston this weekend with my mom and sister to look at the venues Perry and I like and just check things out. Perry has to work, but it will be a very fun girls weekend!

I fly to Greensboro tomorrow AM and then we are driving straight to Charleston. We have an appointment at the church at 4! We have a few appointments Friday as well. Hope to get some shopping, good pictures and sight seeing in too!

Perry and I are planning on taking our engagement pictures when I get back into town. We have some really cute ideas and are going to stay true to us.

We will be sending Save The Dates as soon as possible so be on the look out!

We picked out our colors last night... Purple, Silver (grey), and White.  If you don't know Purple is my favorite color and Autumn is my favorite season!

http://pinterest.com has been a huge help in starting to plan decorations, if you want an invite to the site just post your email address below!

I will post pictures from this weekend with a new update either Sunday or Monday!
